  The service was appalling. It took over 30 minutes to be served our first drink! And there was only one other table eating. The dinner was a complete let down. The chicken Kiev was so dry and hard it was disgusting thankfully my salad was ok. I tasted my sister's chips and they tasted like they had been recooked as they were so hard. When we complained the waiter shrugged his shoulders. Message to the owner you have a delightful pub in a fantastic location but you urgently need to address the way it's managed. The person cooking obviously wasn't a chef as the only other table in the restaurant were complaining too about how poor their food was. It's a real shame as you are losing customers.

  The meal was one of the worst I've had. Chips were dry, gammon was thin and chewy, we had to ask for more pate as the portion was so small. They had run out of the sauce that went with tiny portion of lamb, so had to ask for some gravy. The restaurant was nearly empty but the service was so slow. Certainly not worth the money we paid. Won't be going back.

  Myself and family decided to visit the pub for a celebratory dinner. We were attracted to the pub for the look. But ended up with being very disappointed. I had never eaten a meal like this in my entire life.. i ordered the chicken kiev with Mash and peas.. and got presented with a burnt dry bit of chicken (with no garlic butter inside).. and mash mixed with cabbage veg, cabbage and carrots instead of peas... We questioned this and was told that there would be a discount at the end! I feel that this is quite common feedback as per reviews..... I think that it is appalling that a so called restaurant with so much potential could actually serve food so bad and more so get away with it.. offering discounts is not the solution getting a chef who is able to cook, is!!!! I have read that there are a lot of disgruntled customers and have been for some time now.. i am sorry to say i would never eat there again, with the experience I had.. people work hard and have there treats to go out for dinner, then to have a meal served to you like that and get away with it is disgusting.. i don't normally like giving negative feedback but in this case I do feel this is necessary! . I hope you get your act together to save such a beautiful looking pub... a piece of advice.. stop giving money back this really is not the solution!!!!!!

  Always been very happy after previous visits, but this one was a bit of a shambles. Staff weren't flexible with food orders, food wasn't great, lemon posset dessert was a total rip-off (piddly bit of lemon mousse-type stuff with 5 blueberries on top!!). Restaurant wasn't even half full and we still had to ask the staff to clear our tables. Won't be rushing back.
